After Apple released iOS 5 beta at WWDC 2011 on June 6th 2011, iPhone Dev team is quickly to catch up by releasing the latest jailbreak through Redsn0w 0.9.8b1. The tethered jailbreak is successfully done on all iDevices except iPad 2. In this post, we will show you how to Jailbreak iOS 5 beta on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G, iPod Touch 3G and iPad (for those having access to Apple developers account).
iPhone Dev Team has successfully worked out the tethered jailbreak on Windows platform as well and Windows users can use this guide to tethered jailbreak their iDevices. Be sure to read instructions provided by iPhone Dev team.
How To tethered jailbreak iOS 5 on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS , iPod touch 4G, iPod touch 3G and iPad
Step 2: Make sure your iDevice is running on iOS 5.
Step 3: Open Redsn0w 0.9.8b1 and browse for iOS 5 Beta that you download from step 1.
Step 4: After the firmware is verified, click next. Redsn0w 0.9.8b1 will start preparing data for the jailbreak.
Step 5: On the next screen, you will be given some options. Make sure to check “install Cydia”. Click next.
Step 6: Redsnow will require you to switch off your iDevice and plug it into a PC. You just then need to RedSn0w instruction on how to get into DFU mode. If you miss a step you need to repeat the whole process again.
Step 7: If you successfully enter the DFU mode, Redsn0w will start the jailbreaking process.
That’s it. Your iDevice should now be successfully jailbroken.
